Will it invent experience I don't have?

No. Content the model can use comes from your own profile, split into Locked, Preferred, Flexible, and CoTailr AI modes. Locked facts are never reworded or replaced, and generated numbers/dates run through an invent-check against your profile before you see them.

Will my resume actually pass ATS scanning?

Templates use flow-based HTML layout rendered to PDF through a real browser engine, not absolute-positioned text boxes, the layout style known to scramble word order when ATS software extracts text.

I'm applying to a lot of different roles. Does this scale?

That's the core loop: set up your profile once, then paste a new JD and re-tailor in one pass. Size tiers (Snapshot to Dossier) let you match length to the role without rebuilding anything.

CoTailr is early-stage and currently single-tenant per deployment. A full privacy policy ships alongside multi-user accounts. Early access members will see it before any data leaves the free tier.

Use CoTailr From Claude, Cursor and Other AI Apps

If you already work in Claude or Cursor all day, switching to another tab to tailor a resume is friction you don't need. CoTailr now connects to those apps, so the whole application can happen inside a conversation: you send a job link, and your assistant works from your real CoTailr profile.

What the connector does

The connector gives your AI app access to your CoTailr account. In practice that means you can do the same things you do in the web app, from a chat:

Paste a job link: your assistant reads the posting and summarises company, role, location and requirements.
Get a fit score against your actual experience before you spend time applying.
Generate a tailored resume and cover letter as downloadable PDFs, in your chosen template.
Keep the tracker current: every pack lands as Ready to apply and moves to Applied when you say you sent it.
Draft screening answers, including salary and notice period, from your profile and your private Brief.

What the skill adds

The connector works on its own. The skill is the optional layer that makes Claude consistent: it asks before spending credits, reads your Brief before answering a salary question, avoids creating duplicate tracker entries, and flags applications that have gone stale. It is a plain set of instructions, and it is open source, so you can read all of it.

The same safety rules as the app

Nothing about the guardrails changes when you use an AI app. Your Locked, Preferred and Flexible settings still decide what may be reworded, nothing is invented, and every change made through an AI app is marked in CoTailr with a one-click undo. Using it through Claude spends your normal credits, with a daily cap for connected apps. Reading, fetching jobs and editing are free.

How to set it up

Create a free CoTailr account and add your resume under Resume details.
Make an access key under Settings → Connected apps.
In Claude Code, run /plugin marketplace add NexNimbus/cotailr-skill, then /plugin install cotailr@cotailr. In the Claude app, upload the skill zip under Skills. In Cursor, use the one-click button.
Start a new chat and paste a job link.
